Never forget the fun times in drama class! That silly chain and silly bird. Haha!
I also won’t forget the late night group calls. You really liked that yogurt.

Our hearts are heavy with sadness for your family. We would like to extend our deepest and most sincere condolences on the loss of your son, and brother Wyatt.
Oilfield family. That is who we are. Those who leave home to provide for their family. Darcy worked with Wyatt’s Grandpa Earl in the early 90’s on Sedco Drilling. More recently he has been working with Wyatt’s Dad, Dallas in the Directional Field. An oilfield family shares in many things. Work, yes, but more importantly the sharing of family news from home. Reminiscing about the past. To live apart from the ones you love, the public just doesn’t understand. Missing family but keeping them close.
Oilfield Dad by Bryan Martin, very powerful song about the life we live every day. Believe me, our kids know how much they mean to us. They know the sacrifice we make to provide for them.
We may not have known Wyatt, may his soul rest in peace. But your oilfield family will be ready to listen when you need to talk. You will be in our thoughts and prayers.

Just a couple years that I drove Wyatt’s school bus along with a few of his older brothers. Always wanting to sit at the back with the big kids, mostly to tease them. “Don’t poke the bear, Wyatt!” Was my instructions as I knew he was doing in good fun. The adventures he would share with me, while we waiting for bus transfer, about skating on the pond or new calves, or other farm fun. Your smile and zest for life was contagious!

I remember when I first became friends with Wyatt in grade 8; he was one of the most genuine and kind person I had ever met. He loved to mess around with people and always knew how to cheer you up and make you laugh. In grade 10, I ended up in his drama class where Wyatt, Danica, myself, and a few other friends of ours would all hangout together, and I became friends with Wyatt again. My favourite memory of him and that class was probably when he and Hayden had put a mannequin on the door to scare one of our friends when they opened it. He always had a sense of humour like that! Another memory I have is the first time he had came over to my house he was so insistent on wearing my rainbow squid hat and he was so excited when I gave it to him to put on. The photo of him wearing it has been my favourite one of him ever since!
I’m so thankful to have these memories with him! I’ll never forget his sense of humour and his ability to make everyone smile whenever he entered a room. <3
My deepest condolences to you, your family, and everyone else whose lives have been touched by Wyatt,
Zailey Hodgins

I can’t exactly remember the day I met Wyatt, but I know it was also the day I met Jacob Burnet. Wyatt and Jacob became close friends of mine in grades 8 and 9 if I remember correctly. It’s still a bit of a blur. Anyway, Wyatt was just the life of the party! He made me laugh harder than anyone ever could. There were nights when Wyatt, Jacob, another friend of ours, Zailey, and myself would do group calls till super late at night. He had a crush on Zailey and asked me for dating advice a lot. (Sorry to expose you, buddy.) Anyway, these late-night group calls went on for a while and I have a few videos of Wyatt just being his funny and goofy self. They still make me laugh. But of course, you get older, and we drifted a bit. Luckily enough, he somehow got put straight into my drama class in grade 10. I’m not quite sure how it happened. I remember him walking in and going, “No way this is my class.”, haha! But then he saw me and some other friends, and we became a little group for the time being. It actually ended up being one of the most amazing and funniest classes ever, and I truly believe it was all because of him! I have so many hilarious videos of Wyatt just being Wyatt. He just lit up the room. Funny enough, this was also the class where Wyatt introduced his bird, Ralph, to us. He got Ralph during lunch break that very day. It was just so funny. I thought, “There is no other person I know that would go out during school and buy a bird.” (Well I guess he bought two, but he explained to us that the other one flew away.) Anyway, in drama class, Wyatt somehow came across the long white chain and really enjoyed wrapping himself in it, or tying himself to a chair, or tying it around my friends and my ankles, where if we spoke, he would tug on it and tell us to, “Shh!”. I have some videos of those moments too! They are still as funny as the time they were taken. Anyway, drama class was also the class where I told him some very interesting news I heard over the time we had drifted. My grandparents, Tom and Loretta Leggatt knew his great-grandparents, Pete and Marilyn Trafiak, from Willmar/Arcola Saskatchewan. Wyatt was actually a little shocked! This was also the year my older sister, Delaina, graduated with Ross.
Small world and a greater understanding of how paths cross for a reason. I’m so grateful to have crossed paths with Wyatt. I will never forget his character and the way he made me smile. Thank you, Wyatt.
Condolences to you and your family,
Danica Osborne.
