Our lasting memory of Kathryn will be of a big-hearted, compassionate, very capable woman, who possessed an array of talents. From quilting to canning and everything in-between, not only could she do it, but she taught others how to do it, too. It was Kathryn over the phone, who talked me through my first experience with a pressure canner, reassuring me that I likely wouldn't blow up the house. We kept having kids because after I delivered a baby, Kathryn would deliver a full meal. It was worth it! When Kathryn took on a calling she excelled at it. From janitor (the glass doors sparkled), to librarian (run with military precision), to Relief Society President, Kathryn was there whenever help was needed. Our fondest memory of Kathryn will be recalling her great sense of humor and warm-hearted laughter. Kathryn left a legacy of wonderful memories for everyone who knew her. Our hearts go out to Stan, Jennifer & Kenneth, Chris, all her grandchildren, extended family and friends.

Kathryn was my Mission Mom. I came to Drayton Valley after 6 months in the mission field and I was extremely homesick. I had considered going home. I arrived from Edmonton on a bus late in the day and my companion, Elder Southwick, wouldn’t take me to our apartment until I had met the Pratts. I’m so grateful for that moment. The love that I felt in that home was was so strong and unconditional. Kathryn and Stan took me in like a long lost relative and healed an aching soul. I have never eaten so much mystery meat and peach drink in my life!! I remember hours of playing Spoons on P-day with the family, Chris and Jennifer never won, they were too slow!! Elder Southwick and I were blessed to help paint inside the church spending time with Kathryn and getting all of the life advice that she had to offer. There were a lot of laughs too, her laugh was so infectious. Kathryn is one of the greatest people I’ve ever met and I will miss her so.

We are sorry for your loss of Kathryn. I have fond memories of walking over to visit her home as an early teen. I remember being taught about garden plants, and animals. I remember my sister Josie and I loved to see the pets she had in her living room, especially the axolotls. Kathryn would always stop what she was doing to show us her garden and pets. As an adult with a family of my own now, I can now recognize how precious time is, and how kind it was that she did that for us. I truly hope you can find some peace after her passing.

We are so sorry to hear about the passing of Kathryn. Our deepest sympathy and love go out to the Pratt family. We have fond memories of Kathryn and all the wonderful talents she had. She shared many of her talents which we continue to develop in our own lives. Some of the things she taught us we still use today. She had a lot of wisdom and was a great example to all of us.
