Obituary of Gregory James Spong

With heavy hearts, the family of Gregory James Spong, 50, of Whitecourt, Alberta announces his unexpected passing. We are devastated and completely unprepared by his loss. Born on February 21, 1971, to loving parents Donald and Florence, Gregory James immediately filled the lives of those around him with joy. He was larger than life and always left people with a smile on their face. Greg graduated high school in the small town of Grimsby, Ontario and it was there he met the love of his life Tamara (Mol). They just celebrated their 22nd wedding anniversary and have had 28 years of adventure together. Greg was a loving husband and adored his wife, Tamara, along with their Golden Retrievers. Greg loved the outdoors and was an avid outdoorsman. After a busy work week, Greg and Tamara would look forward to getting out of the city to spend their weekend at the cottage. For there, they were in their element; cooking, quadding, boating and fishing. He loved to cook and was quite the chef, he would go out to his garden and collect fresh ingredients for his latest culinary adventure. His presence is sorely missed, and his loss is deeply felt. Greg will be lovingly remembered by his wife Tamara and fur baby Quinton; siblings, Deena (Wayne) James and Cameron Spong; Nieces and nephews, numerous extended family, as well as many wonderful friends. Greg is predeceased by his parents, Florence Blackwell, and Donald Spong. Cremation has taken place with Greg’s life being celebrated back home in Ontario at a later date.
