Obituary of Eric Matt Korhonen

Eric Matt Korhonen passed away September 13, 2021, at Whitecourt, Alberta, he was 77 years of age. Eric was born in Satkamo, Finland on June 29, 1944. He was the second youngest of five children and loved to read. New opportunities were on the horizon, which brought the Korhonen family to the Eckville area in 1951. Eric is survived by 2 children; his daughter, Paulette (Shannon) and son Terry (Jodie) of Whitecourt along with four grandchildren and 3 great grandchildren. Sisters, Maira (Clarence) Moos of Eckville and Maija Korhonen of Edmonton as well as by numerous nieces, nephews, extended family, and friends. Eric was predeceased by his sons Melvin and Jamie; parents Erkki and Annie Korhonen; siblings Mauno (Jeannine) Korhonen and Maila (Ray) Anderson. A private family graveside service will be held later at the Eckville Cemetery, Eckville, Alberta. Eric’s family wish to extend their great appreciation to the staff at the Spruceview Manor. As a gesture of gratitude, memorial contributions in Eric’s name may be made directly to Spruceview Manor.
