Mary McBain Starman (née Sutley) July 4, 1944 – August 29, 2021 Mary passed away peacefully on Sunday morning at the Mayerthorpe Auxiliary Hospital. Mary’s perseverance, tenacity, work ethic and resilience will be forever admired by her children, Allen (Nancy), Glen (Joanne), Brent (Jennifer), Melody (Don), Brian (Shelly), Heather (Bryce). Along with numerous relatives, friends and neighbours, Mary is lovingly remembered by her grandchildren, Sean, Troy, Jill, Josh, Meghan (Ryan), Dylen, Jessica (Zach), Mark, Matt, Jaxson, Nicole (Daniel), Zac and Blake. Mary was also blessed with three great grandchildren, Danica, Atlas and Maisie. Mary is predeceased by her husband, Leonard, and both of their parents. She is survived by two sisters, Linda (Udo) and Tina as well as Leonard’s siblings and spouses, Stella, Jean, Rose, Frank, Bill and Char. Mary was born in Aberdeen, Scotland and moved to Canada with her parents at the age of 2. She married Leonard in 1963. Together they raised their six children on a farm north of Mayerthorpe. Mary had many jobs throughout the years with her most important ones being a mother, wife, and farmer. After Leonard passed away in 2000, Mary stayed on the farm until health issues forced her to move to town in 2016. Mary spent the last four years in the Mayerthorpe Auxiliary Hospital. Her children wish to thank the staff for the respect and dignity shown to the residents and their families. You were there for Mom when we could not be there. Due to the circumstances of the pandemic and for the safety of our families and your families, a private family service will be held at the St. Agnes Catholic Church in Mayerthorpe on September 3, 2021, at 2:00pm.
