Obituary of Gladys Agatha Seltenrich

Gladys Agatha Seltenrich (neé Vestre) January 19, 1921 - May 21, 2021 Gladys was born January 19, 1921 in Strongfield, Saskatchewan. She had 5 brothers; Ernest, Oliver, Otis, David and Evan and 2 sisters; Dorothy and Joy. In 1953 she married a widower, Walter Seltenrich, and they settled on the family farm near Rimbey, Alberta. They had two sons and five daughters to add to the two sons Walter had from his previous marriage. In 1976 they moved to Drayton Valley and spent many happy years in the house that they built with the help of the girls. Gladys was well known for being an avid gardener, baker, and an active member of the Women’s Institute. She worked for many years in the kitchen of the Shangri La Lodge. Many people were blessed by her sweet spirit. Gladys was well known in her family for her love of competitive board and card games. Gladys leaves to mourn her passing one son, David (Valerie) and five daughters Karen, Gloria, Gail, Linda (Dave) and Lorraine, as well as her sister, Dorothy. She was predeceased by her husband Walter and sons Donnie, Fraser, and Bob, as well as siblings Ernest, Oliver, Otis, David, Evan and Joy. She also leaves behind many grandchildren and great-grandchildren as well as a large extended family of nieces, nephews and cousins. Cremation has taken place and memorial services will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, a donation to the Serenity House in Drayton Valley is appreciated.
