We are shocked and saddened to hear of Irvin's passing. We got to know Irvin through our travel group and he and his travelling companion Doris were always "young at heart" and a joy to be around. We also saw them serving and helping out at the Legion before Covid. He will truly be missed. Our condolences to the family!

Though I first met Irvin way back in 1980 when Mary first started with Parkland County in the recreation department, it wasn't until the last ten years that I really had a chance to get to know him as he and Doris became beloved members of our travel group. As mentioned by people earlier, that irrepressible smile and the perpetual twinkle in his eye captivated all the members of our group. With Irvin, it seemed laughter was the focus of any and all discussions!
Two examples of this really stick out in my mind.
When we were in Casablanca and had a special "dress up" event, Irvin and Doris both entered the dining hall dressed as indigenous Canadians - the place erupted in cheers, clapping and laughter! The local hotel staff would not leave Irvin and Doris alone until all of them could get pictures with them!
The second memory was when our group was in Venice and Irvin had planned a side trip to an area north of Venice where, for the first time, he met Italian relatives. For the rest of our Italy trip, I swear, Irvin never stopped smiling nor talking about meeting those family members.
He was a gem of a man and there is not doubt in my mind that Irvin Solomon could brighten anyone's day, no matter how bad it may have seemed. We will all miss him but we all know he certainly lived life to the fullest!

We first met Irvin and Doris on a Rhine River cruise on one of their many travel adventures. Their zest and enthusiasm for travel and life helped make the trip memorable. Irvin was cheerful and kind-hearted and a true gentleman. We are blessed to have known him. Our deepest condolences to Irvin's family and loved ones for your profound loss.

Deb, Shelly, Kathy, Pam, Doris and families. Uncle Irvin was very special to us too. His loss creates a huge hole in our family and our hearts. I have so many special memories of growing up with you guys (I was the fifth sister lol) Vacations together, spending time on the farm, camping at Easyford. Hikes into the forest - all the kids and the dads leading the way. Swinging on the huge swing set your dad made. Campfires, riding the skidoo. All special memories I will cherish. I will miss his big smile, his contagious laughter - Our heartfelt condolences on your loss. Wish we could be together and hugs all around (your dad was a great hugger too)

So sorry to hear that Irvey got that dreaded cancer. He is now with his Lord is a good feeling along with all the sadness. Doris I so remember the trip to Europe and you guys winning the dress up contest. It was a fun time and good memory. What I also remember about Irvey (as my mom and dad called him) was his whistling!

My deepest condolences to Irvin's family. Getting to know Irvin and Doris as part of the DV Legion family when visiting from Kelowna was always a fond memory. I know my parents would be grieved in hearing of Irvin's passing. I wished to visit the DV Legion many times over the last couple of years but with the onset of Covid the trip has been impossible and now my friend will not be there to visit. I will be thinking of Doris and the extended family at the DV Legion and remembering what a wonderful person Irvin was. RIP my friend.

I met your Dad in 1980 while working for the County of Parkland, he was always a warm and friendly face in the shop. Over the years I learned he was a man with a big heart and an even bigger hug! I smile when I think of him and Doris tearing up the dance one evening as we cruised down the Rhine River.... may the love and warm memories of your wonderful Dad help ease the loss you feel today. Our family will always remember your dad’s infectious smile, his humour, his warmth and his bear hugs. We will treasure the memories of your parents and their genuine love for one and all. Their kind gestures from stopping to show our kids the baby chicks , to the huge mushroom that was left under our spruce tree, to the warm welcome one always got when one stopped in at their home or whenever you saw them anywhere. We were very fortunate and blessed to have them in our lives.
