Obituary of Mae Ida Keough

Mae Ida Keough, nee Parsons passed away peacefully at the Manor in Whitecourt, AB on December 9th, 2023, at the age of 85. Mae was born to Chesley Parsons and Amelia Parsons, nee Francis on August 26,1938, in Three Mile Rock, NL. Mae was predeceased by her parents. On December 17th,1955, she married Bartholomew Joseph Keough, together they lived and raised their family in Parsons Pond, NL. In 2008, she moved to Nova Scotia to live with her daughter and her family; and in 2013, she moved to Alberta to live with her son, and his family. Mae was predeceased by her loving and devoted husband Bert in March of 2006. She leaves behind her two children, Douglas (Nancy) and Delilah. Her grandchildren, Amber, Kennedi, Rylee, Sierra, Aden and Ainslea. Her great-grandchildren Damon and Bonnie. Mae is predeceased by her granddaughter, Emma. Mae was no stranger to hard work and sacrifice. She lost her mother at a young age and became the caregiver of her younger siblings. She leaves behind her sisters Hilda Hutchings and Florence House (Harley). Florence is the youngest and thought of Mae as her mother. Mae also leaves behind sisters-in-laws Enid, Marie, Vera and a large circle of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. She was predeceased by her brothers Ronald, Stewart, Lloyd, Clifford, and her twin brother Tommy; her sisters Winnifred Payne, Delilah House, Ida Payne and Thelma Parsons; her brothers-in -law, Thomas Payne, Carl House, George Payne and Bruce Hutchings and her sister- in- law Barbara Parsons. After moving away from her home in Parsons Pond, Mae enjoyed keeping in touch with her family and friends. She made many phone calls to her sister-in-law, Charlotte Payne to talk about how folks were doing back home. She cherished these conversations, and it kept her connected to her roots. Honoring Mae’s wishes cremation will take place on December 15, 2023. Mae will be laid to rest alongside her husband in Parsons Pond, Newfoundland. A graveside interment service will be held this summer in Parsons Pond. The family would like to thank the staff at the Manor in Whitecourt for their kindness and compassion.
