Obituary of Joy Elaine Rushton

Joy Elaine Rushton November 7, 1934 – November 16, 2023 It is with great sadness and tears the family announce the passing of Joy Elaine Rushton on Thursday, November 16, 2023 at 89 years. Joy's good natured ways will be missed by many. Joy was flamboyant, fashionable, glamourous, and not beyond tongue and cheek to get her opinion across to others. Joy had many pastimes to fill her days, she loved to fish, was not afraid to get her hands dirty with gardening, both vegetables and beautiful flowers, crossword puzzles, crocheting, making pult, and she loved Jesus! Many days you could hear gospel music at full volume coming from Joy’s place. Joy deeply loved her family, children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren alike. Strawberries and whip cream were always at the ready, along with a hot meal. She loved to care for others, she instilled in her grandchildren that family is precious, be kind to one another, treasure others, forgive people even though you don’t want to. Joy was a woman of strong faith; she enjoyed her church family; and was very involved in the church activities and prayer service. Joy’s life will be cherished and remembered by her son, Wayne (Linda); grandchildren, Chris (Carli) and Mikaela (Travis); great grandchildren, Madalynn, Myah, and Bodie; siblings Lloyd, Faye (Dallas), and Carol, as well as sister-in-law, Sylvia; son-in-law, Clayton; the “little girls” mom Corissa; along with numerous extended family and friends. Joy was predeceased by her husband, Norman; daughter, Elaine; great-grandson, Jacob; parents, Lloyd and Elvira Turner; siblings, Earl, Leonard, Howard, Harold, and Betty. The family would like to thank the care team at Points West Living, especially Erica, to Dr. Frobb and the nursing staff at the Drayton Valley Hospital and Care Centre for the care and compassion shown to Joy during her stay.
