My grandfather did a lot of things in life. One of the things I believe he was most proud of was raising his family. Grandpa always looked happy when the family got together.
I have many memories of my grandfather. It is hard to just pick one to talk about.
Growing up I remember being on the acreage and walking through his shop. As a child it was very intimidating, however grandpa took the time to show me things and explain what his job was.
As I got older, grandpa would always bug me about my hair. Each time I would come visit, my hair would be a different length and colour. He would always look at me funny and say something about it.
He would also bug me about school and work. As I was a never ending student. I would be going to school during the year but also summer. At the time I was also working multiple jobs. Grandpa would always tease me about it. Still to this day I can hear him say “is that so !” As he raised his one eyebrow and looked at me before laughing.
I would always talk to grandpa about my cats. He would look at me like I am a crazy cat lady. I would tell him about how frustrating they could be. He would always respond with something so outrageous about getting rid of them.
One memory however sticks out the most. That memory would be grandpa putting salt and pepper on almost everything! He would put salt and pepper on things that probably shouldn’t have salt and pepper. <3
I love you grandpa! You were the best grandfather a girl could ask for.

Grandma and grandpa always made sure I had something in my belly. I miss his funny jokes. I loved that he always wore the same clothes, that made me smile when I saw him. I do the same thing. I love you grandpa, I miss you.

I remember when I would always go to grandpa's house and eat the chocolate cookies. I would take off the tops and only eat the side with the icing. The other side I gave to grandpa, who ate it every time.

Every time the phone rang and nana was not home grandpa picked up the phone he would always say hyello and I loved that. And every time we were going to hug I would run my hand down his arm.

Grandpa's Lap
The buzz is calm and quiet from grandpa's lap. The world is safe and warm from grandpa's lap. The view is simple and stunning from grandpa's lap. Love is unconditional on grandpa's lap.
I remember finding all of these comforts while cuddled up on my grandpa's lap as a child. I am beyond thankful that my babies, Axton and Taneya, have experienced all of the joys and consolations that can only be found on grandpa's lap.
We love you, grandpa

Whenever we came to Whitecourt, stopping at Stan and Shirley's was on our to do list. We shared stories, jokes and lots of laughs over many cups of coffee and tea. He had that Keurig mastered. I always enjoyed hearing Stan reminese about life on the farm and the good old days. Remember when.....
Stan shared stories about their work at the grocery store as well as their country meat shop. Normal working hours didn't exist as people would drop meat any hour, any day. Time off seldom occurred even when it was planned as people expected them to be there 24/7.
We heard of wild meat horror stories with the hunter expecting the best cuts and sausage from a dirty, mangled, carcas. He did the best he could with what he was given.
Stan made sausage for us a few times and we quite enjoyed it.
Stan was a very crafty, creative carpenter. I brought a picture of a dowelled hanger for dress slacks and asked if he could make one for me. He did, and it works like a charm. I've never seen another, so it is kind of unique. It came with us when we moved. I left a few holes in the wall, but I wasn't leaving it behind. He also made us some wishing wells and we brought one of those with us too. We only had to give him a picture and measurements and he would cut, saw, and paint or stain with wonderful results. We would always say "There's no hurry Stan", and we'd be pleasantly surprised at how quickly it would be ready.
We enjoyed those visits because we found Stan to be so knowledgeable, open and honest about life, the past, present and future. So glad to have known such a kind, pleasant man.

Stan loved hunting- his friend(s) Walter , Ralph, Basle and their annual trips. With a few fishing excursions in-between. Imagine the stories around that campfire.

Creighton was born in Fairview AB.
He was raised on a farm being the youngest of a large family. He said "It was hard work to grow up on a farm!"
But even as an adult with his own family, every visit did
involve chores of some sort - I am sure he enjoyed.
