“Jim” James Alexander Philip Reid February 4, 1935 – May 8, 2023 The family of Jim Reid, long-time resident of Entwistle, Alberta regret to announce his passing at Michener Extendicare, Red Deer, Alberta on May 8, 2023 at the age of 88 years. Formerly from New Brunswick, Jim made his way to Alberta, where he remained and made a beautiful life for himself. He very much enjoyed his career, and for 25 years was a purchasing agent in the mining industry. Jim was a dedicated volunteer and offered much of his time for the betterment of his community. Jim served for many years in several different capacities with Lion’s Club International, becoming District Governor. In his free time, Jim was an avid hunter and enjoyed sports. Jim’s quiet nature and sense of humour will be missed. Jim will forever be lovingly remembered by his wife of 25 years, Linette Reid; daughters, Shelley (Ernie) Russell and Tamara (Bill) McDougall; grandchildren, Ally, Keaton and Nathan; twin sisters, Isabelle Mann and Mary MacDonald; brother, John (Evelyn) Reid, as well as by numerous nieces, nephews and other extended family. Jim is predeceased by his parents, Cluny and Hilda Reid and sisters, Georgia Palmer and Jean Nutt. The family would like to extend their heartfelt gratitude and special thanks to Dick and Mary Balfour for all of their care and compassion over the years, and to Drayton Valley Continuing Care for the excellent care provided. Memorial donations in honour of Jim may be made directly to Lion’s Club International’s “Leader Dog” by visiting www.leaderdog.org Cremation has taken place and interment will take place at Evansburg Cemetery at a later date.
