Obituary of Terrence 'Terry" James Clelland

Terrence James Clelland passed away Sunday night, April 30, 2023 in his home at Season's Retirement Community in Drayton Valley in the loyal company of his sweet dog, Boots. He is predeceased by his soulmate and wife of fifty two years, Sharon Joyce Haggerty Clelland (1946-2017). He is dearly missed by his two children, Scott Clelland and Leah (Thomas) Clelland Jochim. As a Grandfather he was loved dearly by three Grandchildren, Jamin Hamelin, Briar Jochim, and Bennett Jochim. Terry's parents, Thomas Wilson Clelland (1914-1997) and Kathleen Agnes MacDonald Clelland (1918-1995) adventured across much of Alberta and welcomed him into the world on July 14, 1944 in Rocky Mountain House. Terry was the middle child of three. He is predeceased by his older sister, Barbara (Del) Enders (1942-2014). Terry is greatly missed by his younger sister, Kathie (Dave) Harder. Terry had a tremendous heart that he shared openly with his family, and the friends who became like family. He enjoyed many adventures traveling, house boating and road trips for Rocky mountain vacations and beyond. In 1979, Terry accepted a job working for Scimitar Oils (Dugas) and moved the family to Dubai, U.A.E. where they resided happily for 11 years. Ever the athlete, Terry, set aside his curling gear to take up bowling and other sports like golf at the 1st Dubai golf club, Emirates Golf Club. He very much enjoyed playing the courses back in Alberta with Sharon and their dear friends. He also loved to coach, play and watch curling and hockey. For the past four years, Boots was Terry's loyal companion, helping him make friends with even more people in the Drayton Valley community. We want to express our heartfelt gratitude to the dedicated team at Season's who provided steadfast care and comfort to Terry. An interment will immediately follow the service at Riverview Cemetery, Drayton Valley, Alberta. followed by a reception at Life Church, for all those attending. Terry will join Sharon on the same plot at the Riverview Cemetery, Drayton Valley, Alberta. May they rest in heavenly peace together forever.
