It is with deep sadness that the family announces the passing of Joseph Smyl of Whitecourt, Alberta, on Saturday April 15th, 2023, at the age of 85 years.
Joe is survived by his loving family, wife Maureen of 57 years, daughter Rhonda of Vancouver, BC, sons Terry (Carol Anne) of Kelowna, BC, Duane of Whitecourt, AB, grandchildren Brett(Emily) of Peace River, AB and Taryn(Andrew) Lukens of Kelowna, BC., brothers Leonard, John, Henry, sister Eileen Junck, sister-in-law Karen Smyl, along with extended relatives and cherished friends. Joe is predeceased by his parents, Ignacy and Zofia, brothers Bernard, Florian, Mike and George.
Joe was iconic in the automotive industry, 68 years with General Motors and an accomplished GM Dealer at Smyl GM in Whitecourt, AB since 1979. Joe also enjoyed his farm, baseball, golf and always being the champion when playing horseshoes.
Joe had a special connection with people as the family has received overwhelming love and support from many. The family would also like to acknowledge heartfelt gratitude to the staff of the Whitecourt Health Care Centre and a special thank you to Dr. Joe Ojedokun.
