Obituary of Donald Anthony Strickland

Donald Anthony Strickland February 3, 1963 – February 17, 2023 It is with great sorrow that we announce the passing of Donald Anthony Strickland on February 17, 2023 at the age of 60 years. From the time he was a young boy, Donny was incredibly mechanically inclined. He would help his dad whenever he got the chance and would become the guy everyone went to for any mechanical help. Don loved fast cars and was a master of building a hot rod out of just about anything. When in his element and comfortable with his surroundings, Donny was able to be himself; he was proud, talented, reliable, courteous and kind. Within the unsheltered community, his true character shone and allowed him to offer his support and heart to those in need; even when he really had nothing to give, he gave anyway. His love for others was genuine and his spirituality ran deep. Donald will always be remembered by his children, Lakotta and Makaylia; grandchildren, Everette and Eanna; siblings, Linda and Alan, as well as many extended family and a special circle of friends. Donald was predeceased by his parents, Lorraine and Jim; brothers, Tim and Stephen; sister, Kathy and niece, Korina. Don’s family would like to extend their heartfelt gratitude to Betty Rego of Boyle Street Community Services and to EMS for providing dignified and compassionate care to Don. Memorial donations in Donny’s name can be made directly to the Cross Cancer Institute, 11560 University Avenue, Edmonton, Alberta T6G 1Z2. A Graveside Service will be held at Riverview Cemetery at a later date.
