Obituary of George William Hurst

It is with sadness to announce the passing of George William Hurst at the age of 92 years at the University of Alberta Hospital. Born in Aklavik, NWT, George made his way to Alberta in the early 1960’s to start a new adventure in his life. He made an honest living for himself in the forestry industry and working on farms. One of George’s great passions was trapping, he had a wealth of knowledge when it came to the outdoors. George will be lovingly remembered by Fern and Bea Goudreault and family, along with numerous close and dear friends. A service will be held February 26, 2023 at 11a.m at the Whitecourt Seniors Circle with Interment at the Blue Ridge Cemetery. To be a trapper is to traverse the tracks and trails of mother earth. To walk on land, no man has stood, to see in ways that no man could. To be a trapper is to revere what nature’ bounty gives each year. To know the woods by instincts true, of every rock and hill and slough. To see the forest between the trees, to understand what so few see. To be a trapper is to be free.
