Obituary of Charles William Marks

Charles William Marks February 26, 1937 – February 9, 2023 It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of our dad, grandfather, and friend Charles William Marks on Thursday, February 9, 2023 at Drayton Valley Continuing Care at the age of 85 years. Charles and his wife had a farm and raised Black Angus cattle; Charles was a man with a strong work ethic, he was a hard worker and provider. During his time away from work and throughout retirement, he enjoyed hunting, loved to fish, camp, and quad; horse back riding was certainly something he enjoyed during his much earlier years. He was also an avid reader of westerns and a fan of country music. What he loved to do most of all was to take long drives with his bride, Elsie. Charles is survived by his children, Teresa (Ray), Mary Jane (Dwight); grandchildren, Rebecca, Gordie, Clinton, Holly, Dallas, Sheldon, Krista, Janess, and David; great-grandchildren, Lance, Olivia, Emma, Shaye-Lynn, Alex, Jordan, Alexis, Landen, Carman and Ethen; great-great-grandchildren, Hazel and Ava; siblings, Marie (Iven), Roland (Mariyln), and Ted. Charles was predeceased by his wife, Elsie; his two sons, Raymond and Bill; granddaughter, Mellisa; siblings Fred and Elaine, and his parents Albert and Viola. Charles’ family would like to thank the doctors and staff at the Drayton Valley long-term care unit and the staff at Serenity House in Drayton Valley. A memorial donation in Charles’ name can be made directly to the Drayton Valley Long-Term Care unit, the Alberta Heart Foundation, or to the Diabetes Foundation. As per Charles’ wishes, there will be no formal service at this time.
