Obituary of Shannon Lea Metzger

Shannon Lea Metzger (Miners) November 21, 1968 – December 12, 2022 We are heartbroken to announce the passing of a beautiful wife, mother, grandmother, aunt and friend. Shannon passed away on Monday, December 12, 2022 at Drayton Valley Hospital and Care Centre surrounded by her loving family at the age of 54 years. Shannon will forever be cherished and always be remembered by her husband, Dale Metzger; children, Amanda (Chance) Thomson and Cody (Corrine) Metzger; grandchildren, Khloe Thomson, Layne Thomson, and Colby Thomson; her parents, Judy and Bruce Miners; siblings Shane Miners (Donna), Bruce Miners (Kelly) and Jennifer Miller (Jason); grandparents, Lucy and Joe Zerr and William and Margaret Miners. She was predeceased by her nephew Ethan Miller. Shannon had a rancher`s heart. She and Dale raised their two children with the love of the open fields and of a hard day’s work on the farm with horses, cows and dogs. Shannon felt so blessed to be a grandma of three beautiful and much-loved grandchildren. She loved to be with family and friends, on horseback, sleigh rides, at the river or just around a fire with family and friends. To her friends, Shannon was fiercely loyal and dedicated. Shannon will be incredibly missed. Shannon’s family would like to extend their heartfelt thanks to Carol Johnson, Jody Peck, Kerry Doran, Kelly Miners and Rhonda Dever for their compassion and wonderful care throughout Shannon’s illness. Funeral Services will be held at Breton Community Centre on Wednesday, December 21, 2022 at 2:00 p.m. with interment to follow at Breton Cemetery. For those who so desire, memorial contributions in Shannon’s name may be made directly to Stollery Children`s Hospital or Cause for Critters Animal Rescue Society.
