Obituary of Daniel Donald Whitford

Daniel “Danny” Donald Whitford February 7, 1948 – October 24, 2022 It is with broken hearts we announce the passing of Daniel “Danny” Donald Whitford at the age of 74 years. Danny was born on February 7, 1948 in Lac La Biche, Alberta to Percy Whitford and Alice Leighton. After three years of service in the Army as a paratrooper, Danny decided it was time for a change and made his way to Whitecourt in 1962. This is where he would call home for over the next 60 years. Danny was a traditional man and was very proud of his roots. He was a fluent Cree speaker and loved attending traditional gatherings. When Danny wasn’t working or out and about, you could often find him spending his free time reading a variety of western books. Work was a very important aspect in Danny’s life. He worked as a Skidder Operator in the bush and made many great connections during that time. Danny was a very social man and loved spending time with his friends and family. He was loved by countless people as his passing has left a great loss in many lives. Danny will be forever remembered by his children, grandson Cash Agnes, siblings Joyce Whitford, Linda (Carl) Bull, Rosalie Nicholls, Mary Ann Lameman, Sandy Whitford, Eugene (Barbara) Leighton, Everitt Leighton Ken (Connie) Leighton and Marie (Andrew) Currie as well as many aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews. He is predeceased by his parents Percy Whitford and Alice Leighton, sisters Elaine McVeigh, Nora Agnes, Shirley Whitford, Margaret (Walter) Howse as well as brothers Harvey, Donny, Morgan and Percy. A wake for Danny will be held at the Blue Ridge Community Hall from Wednesday November 9, 2022 at 1:00 p.m. until Thursday November 10, 2022 at 2:00 p.m. Burial is to follow at the Whitecourt Cemetery.
