David is my Uncle, we always have called him Uncle DD since we all were little….he has been on my mine for the past week or more so I felt the need to speak with him…its hard when you are used to hearing someone’s voice every week at the same time and now that the first anniversary Uncle dd leaving us comes around I am filled with thoughts and memories of sharing time with him when us kids were little and spending many summer holidays at the farm..Im very glad that Sophie and I were able to come and see him a few times in the past couple of years and take us all back to the old farm and visit the river again…I will always have some very good memories of that day with uncle dd and sitting by the river and talking…taking you out to dinner and just talking for hours…I miss our usual sunday phone calls and being able to talk with him and hear his voice and see what hes been up to for that past week…. I guess missing someone never gets any easier.

David was my cousin and I have fond memories of hunting and fishing with David on the Schenk family farm on the Pembina River just a short drive from our home in Edmonton. My first big game hunt as a 13-year-old was just across the river. David bagged a moose. We caught lots of tasty pickerel in the river on numerous summer trips. My mother, David's aunt Evelyn, always loved to see the Tiger Lilies in bloom in the pine forest. David was always a cheerful and gracious host.
Well, I didn't see much of David after my teen years. I moved out to the coast and got a family, a business and just got taken up with the business of life. Our lives have been quite different. In the last few years "tho my wife Margaret and I have enjoyed reconnecting with David with his regular calls. We will miss those calls and are very sad to see him go.
If its any comfort Sharon, your guy lived a good life and will be missed by many. Our condolences to you.

I will miss you Uncle DD. (I couldn't say David so Dd it was!) I will cherish our time and the memories of the summers spent out at the farm. I remember how you would tease us and also how you showed me how to make work fun cleaning out those little pop bottles for spening cash after recycling or checking on the cows! It was very heartfelt to reconnect after your 20 year absence in 2020 with Kayla and me. I'm glad you got to meet your nephew Colton and your great niece Athena in July at mom's memorial. I love you and will see you when I get there!
