Obituary of Emily Letwiniuk

Emily Letwiniuk (Nowak) January 1, 1925 – March 22, 2022 It is with saddened hearts yet deep gratitude for a life so well lived, that the family of Emily Letwiniuk announce her passing at Clearwater Centre, Rocky Mountain House, Alberta, on Tuesday, March 22, 2022, at the age of 97 years. The family will always be proud of Emily’s many accomplishments, but especially her 40 years of service as a teacher; her walking of the Great Wall of China at the age of 88, and also winning her way to the Northern Alberta Crib Championship, in Yellowknife, NWT. Emily was always active, be it playing bingo, bowling, darts or crib, she just loved to socialize and always loved to laugh. Emily volunteered many years at the Legion Branch 269, Drayton Valley, Alberta and served in many capacities, but it seemed her “Hostess with the Mostest” personality really thrived in helping with the weekly meat draws. Emily will be lovingly remembered by her children, Ray (Lorraine) Letwiniuk and daughter Carolyn (Dale) Symon. Her living legacy will also live on in her grandchildren, Ryan (Kim), Trent (Vivian), Mara (Ryan), Mathew (Des) and Myles (Joel) and her great grandchildren, Eric, Colin, Nathan, Kyla, Jordan, Jake, Emi and Jon. She is predeceased by her husband, Walter; her parents Mike and Mary Nowak; sister Betty and special friend, Al. A celebration of Emily’s beautiful and vibrant life will held on Monday, March 28, at 1:00pm, in the Drayton Valley Legion, 5204 51 Ave, Drayton Valley, Alberta. Interment will follow the service at Riverview Cemetery. The family desire to express their deep gratitude to Dr. Dowling and the wonderful staff at Clearwater Centre, Rocky Mountain House, Alberta, for their kind and compassionate care of Emily while she journeyed there. They also express gratitude to Dr. Froud, for all the care and kindness he showed to her as her family doctor while living in Drayton Valley.
