Obituary of Darlene Margaret Butterfield

Darlene Margaret Myrtle Butterfield (Harke) October 19, 1947 – February 23, 2022 Darlene Butterfield, age 74, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, February 23, 2022, at the Red Deer Regional Hospital. Darlene was born October 19, 1947 in Mayerthorpe, Alberta, to August and Kathleen Harke. Affectionately known as “Grandma Dar” by her grandchildren, Darlene will be remembered as a loving mother, daughter, sister, aunt, cousin and friend. We will think of her each time we play bingo, take on a new knitting project or sit down to sew. Darlene is survived by her children, Al Butterfield and Sherri (Joe) Derksen; brother Dale Harke (Cindy LeClercq); sister Wendy (Bill) Baloc; brother-in-law Kenny Wardlow, sister-in-laws Jackie Harke and Donna Harke. She will also be forever in the hearts of Her grandchildren, Brodie (Danielle) Butterfield, Brooke (Tyler Wilner) Butterfield, Riley and Stephanie Derksen and great grandchildren, Cole and Rilynn Butterfield, along with numerous nieces and nephews. Darlene loved and touched them all deeply. She was predeceased by her husband, Trevor of 47 years; her parents, August and Kathleen Harke; brothers Harold and Barry; sister Helen, and her daughter-in-law Tracy. Darlene will be missed dearly, but we are thankful for the moments we were lucky enough to spend with her while she was here, and will carry her memory in our hearts. A celebration of Darlene’s life will be held later for family and close friends.
